Anger Management Counselling: A Path to Healing Together
Anger Management Counselling is a service that offers clients strategies and techniques to manage excessive anger and make better life choices. We also offer a condensed version of the Anger Management Program, details of which can be found on the home page under “Anger Workshop”. Most of this counselling service is done on a one-on-one basis. Please note that completion of the program does not guarantee any legal outcomes, such as charges being dropped, altered, or withdrawn.
Overall, it can make a person’s life happier because much of the unhappiness and difficulties in relationships stem from an inability to manage excessive anger. Anger management means directing the energy of anger toward productive, prosocial activities; it is not the same as anger control. See the FAQ section.
The Report of Completion is only issued once fees are paid in full.
How Anger Management Counselling Works
Program Overview
The Anger Management Program consists of eight to ten (8-10) individual counselling sessions designed to help clients recognize the roots of their anger, develop awareness of the negative effects of excessive anger and learn anger mastery. During these sessions, the client will explore key triggers of excessive anger, how it can be very damaging to their relationships, and other topics related to managing one’s anger effectively. Each session is approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour in length, and the program usually lasts 1 to 2 months. Some sessions may also be completed over the telephone (telephone counselling) and using the internet (e-mail correspondence). The program can also be completed in a shorter period. It meets the requirements of the Ontario Court System.
Although this program is called Anger Management, its approach is broader, covering life skills management.
