Avoid taking things personally. When people are rude to you, it is usually how they relate to themselves, not a reflection of you. If they have a poor relationship with themselves, it will show up in how they treat others and, in this case, you.
Stop Blaming Yourself
As such, we must avoid taking things personally as much as possible. In fact, it is rarely about you, so you should avoid taking things personally. We are brought up to take things personally as a sign of strong character. This may be difficult to overcome. Another factor is that we do not want to be perceived as weak, so we take things personally to protect our sense of identity.
When you do so, you will be able to observe your emotions rather than acting them out. You will be less reactive and more proactive. You will react less emotionally and respond more rationally. This is where our power lies, in interacting with others. This is, in essence, being mindful of our behaviour.
